This is a pretty unique tool, although I know there are some others out there that provide this service.

Basically, for $1.50 a pop, you can verify a user's legal identity. Their information is cross referenced with government databases, their ID information is scanned, and their face is analyzed.

Now I'm a big fan of this in concept, but it's come into some very bad press lately.

In theory, being able to check if each of my users is who they say they are is huge. No bots, no AI agents, no fake accounts, just real authentic people.

But it's come to light that tools like this have had some security vulnerabilities in the past, or in Discord's case, data about the user's private information can be saved, like scans of their face.

A lot of users are concerned about the privacy aspect of that.

So I'm not super bullish on the concept anymore, despite it's potential value, it's also got a lot of potential issues.

Persona is another tool that offers similar verification, but Stripe Identity's pricing is much more friendly. Persona has a minimum contract length of a year, and it's $250 per year.

Stripe Identity just charges you a fee per verification, so if I was ever going to do something involving identity, this is the tool I'd use. Just be careful, and talk to your users about it.
